Thoughts on pricing:
A couple of days ago a customer asked me, “how do I know I’m getting a good deal?” I thought about it for a second and told her, “anyone who is promising you that they have the lowest prices or the best deal or that they won’t be undersold is probably someone you want to stay away from.” She looked puzzled for a moment then she said, “you know, you are probably right!”
She then asked me why a national retailer was offering carpet installation for $39. I asked her if she knew any carpet installers that were willing to work all day for $39. She said she didn’t know any and I told her I didn’t know any either. The fact is the national retailers that are quoting installation for $39 have raised their prices on everything else to cover their costs. I even had a customer tell me, “they charged me twice just for sneezing!” After this customer compared our bottom line to their bottom line we came out significantly less than the national retailer.
In today’s economy you can’t afford to pay too much for something and I believe everyone wants to receive a good value for their hard earned money. However I continue to see customers have bad experiences buying flooring because they were promised the lowest price. Some thought they were getting a good deal because they shopped at a store with “outlet” in its name. Unfortunately they received products or installation that was below standard.
Our pricing philosophy is quite simple. We try to offer an exceptional value on first quality products with exceptional service and installation everyday. We don’t have a sale every week, we don’t mark up products just to mark them down again, and we don’t tell you we are giving something for free only to include the cost someplace else.
